We don't get to see the transit of Venus live in South Africa, unless we live on the extreme east coast of KwaZulu Natal.
But here's a shot from the live webcam at (urrgh) the
CocaCola Space Science Centre in Alice Springs, Oz.
It's purple because of the em wavelength it's viewing the event in - in this case, the hydrogen calcium K line.
OK Venus? Had your moment? Now get out of my eighth house, would you?
