Turtles...All The Way Down?

The Large Hadron Collider at CERN has detected quarks in an excited state.

To cut the technical crap, this is strongly suggestive of quarks not, in fact, being the smallest division of matter/energy in the cosmos.

I'm not going to go on and on about this, although it is really annoying. We keep hitting what we think is the bedrock of units-of-matter, and keep being proven wrong.

I see more turtles coming up...

  1. I had an introduction to string theory recently. It's a fascinating concept, especially what it predicts, like multiple unknown dimensions etc.
As long as they don't blow us all up, let them play with their toys ;-)

  2. As a non-scientist, I just love the language. "Quarks in an excited state." :)
